This clay mask covers the face of the deceased and helps the soul resist the Underworld’s eroding effect on memory and identity. A soul that loses its identity petrifies into a statue called misera. The mask is worth high sentimentality when traded to the Gray Merchant in exchange for another item.

Paid

If you die while wearing this mask in the Underworld, you can choose to destroy the mask to avoid gaining a level of exhaustion.

Overpaid

Wearing this mask allows you to make Charisma (Deception) checks with advantage when convincing undead creatures that you aren’t alive. Undead creatures that automatically attack the living don’t recognize you as living unless given reason to believe otherwise.
